1. For what period of time is my food safety training certificate valid?  When should I recertify in a food safety training program?

Certification in CRFA’s National Food Safety Training Program (NFSTP) is valid for a period of five years.  If your certification is not with NFSTP – this would include training programs such as FoodSafe, ServSafe and others – you should contact the individual or organization that provided your food safety training to confirm when you need to recertify.

2. Can you provide me with a list of all the [insert ethnicity] restaurants in [insert city]?

CRFA does not track this information and so is not able to provide data that relates to types of individual restaurants, or the number of restaurants per city.  Although not a comprehensive source, you may wish to consult your local Yellow Pages for an approximate answer to this question.

3. Can you provide me with statistics on restaurant sales in my city?

CRFA does not have data on restaurant sales below the provincial level.

4. Can you offer me legal advice about buying/selling a restaurant?

CRFA is not able to offer legal advice of any sort.  If you are purchasing or selling a restaurant, we recommend that you seek experienced legal advice.  A list of legal consultants can be found on CRFA’s electronic Buyers Guide

5. Can I complain to you about a restaurant/cafeteria?

CRFA is not able to respond to customer complaints and does not track or catalogue customer feedback about individual foodservice establishments or chains.  If you have compliments or concerns about a foodservice establishment, we recommend that you contact the establishment directly.  Alternatively, you may wish to contact a Better Business Bureau near you, or, in the instance of an issue you consider to be a health hazard, your local health authority.

6. Can you provide me with a list of allergen-free restaurants?

Because of the very serious nature of food allergies and the challenges inherent in ensuring that such a list is 100% reliable, CRFA does not maintain a list of allergen-free restaurants.  Customers concerned about allergens when eating out should call the establishment ahead of time and explain their concerns to a manager, and then reiterate their concerns when they arrive at the restaurant.

7. I'm looking for someone who sells [insert product/service] to restaurants – can you refer me to someone?

CRFA’s electronic Buyers Guide is a comprehensive list of industry suppliers that can be viewed online at no cost.

8. What are the benefits of CRFA membership?

CRFA helps its members across Canada control costs, increase profits and build their businesses.  CRFA offers significant member savings programs to operators and suppliers, four annual trade shows, industry-specific research and information and regional representation to government on issues of concern to foodservice operators.

9. How do I join CRFA?
