Groupex expands to offer volume pricing to Atlantic Canada restaurateurs

(Apr. 20/09) Canada’s largest buying group for independent foodservice operators is coming to Atlantic Canada.

By the end of 2009, Groupex will deliver everything from soft drinks to financial services at huge savings for independent restaurateurs in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.  Groupex’s services were launched in Nova Scotia in February, with plans to expand to all Atlantic provinces this year.

“Groupex helps independent operators remain competitive by giving them the buying power of chains,” says Groupex President Carmine Aquino.  “We’ve taken a long, hard look at the needs of local operators, have established a solid network of quality suppliers, and I’m confident there is a strong market for our services in Atlantic Canada.”

Though new to Atlantic Canada, Groupex has been serving the restaurant industry in other parts of the country for 25 years.  Founded by a small group of independent operators, Groupex is now 100% owned by the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) and is 1,800 members strong.

Groupex reduces costs for restaurateurs by offering volume pricing from name-brand suppliers such as Pepsi, Johnson-Diversey, Canada Bread, Cavendish Farms, Canadian Linen, Nestlé and others.  Each month, Groupex members receive a rebate cheque that can reduce their operating costs by thousands of dollars a year.

In today’s tough economic climate, Groupex’s money-saving program brings more value than ever to independent foodservice operators.
