(Jul. 27/10) Following CRFA action, Nova Scotia is making improvements to speed up the liquor-licensing approval system.
Liquor licensing-related requests will now be handled by Nova Scotia’s Alcohol and Gaming Division (AGD), rather than the Utility and Review Board (UARB) – a change that will significantly speed up the approval process. In recent years, operators have complained about the time lag and red tape created by requests going through the UARB. Due to CRFA’s efforts, a two-step plan was initiated in January to help simplify the process – step one streamlines liquor license regulations and step two entails other legislative changes to address remaining road blocks.

To eliminate other major licensing frustrations, the Liquor Licensing Regulations need further amendments. CRFA is optimistic these legislative changes will be introduced in the fall.
