CRFA pushes Quebec to freeze minimum wage


(Oct. 31/12) Ahead of any potential minimum wage announcement over the Christmas break, CRFA met with Quebec Labour Minister Agnès Maltais to better gauge government’s plans.

We noted there are better ways to help workers than raise the minimum wage each year. We asked for:

Each year, Quebec has announced minimum wage changes – mostly increases – over the Christmas break, to take effect the following May. The current regular minimum wage is $9.90/hour and tipped minimum wage is $8.55/hour. CRFA is optimistic the regular hourly minimum wage will not exceed $10, as is the case in most of the country.
